Harmonizing the World

Pacific Sound Chorus

Pacific Sound Chorus (PSC) is a championship chorus full of talented women from all over the Puget Sound area who share a love of singing and are always striving for musical excellence!

Pacific Sound is directed by Susan Kegley. Susan is a founding member of Pacific Sound, has been a member of Sweet Adelines International for more than 25 years, and has a huge array of accomplishments to her name. For more information about Susan, click here.

Each spring, North Pacific Region 13 holds its annual Convention and Competition, which are important events in the life of a Sweet Adelines chorus. Pacific Sound is no exception: we love to compete! In fact, at the 2009 regional contest, held April 4 in Spokane, WA, Pacific Sound brought home their ninth First Place medals, qualifying them to compete at the International Convention to be held in Seattle in the fall of 2010.

Our quest for musical excellence has led us to great successes at competitions...our very first in 1990 was grand indeed! We boasted 26 members (including the director!), placed second over-all and won the First Place Small Chorus Award.

Since that first regional competition, Pacific Sound has gone on to win the regional contest and then to compete at international competition seven times!

The high notes of barbershop

Barbershop harmony is produced by four vocal parts sung a cappella, (i.e. without the use of instrumental accompaniment). Rooted in American history, barbershop is nostalgic, sweet, colorful and dramatic. It can be sung by either informally "tagging" with quartets or by staging formal, full chorus performances, complete with choreography and costuming.

Pacific Sound Chorus is a part of Sweet Adelines International, an educational, non-profit organization promoting four-part, barbershop singing for women. More than 30,000 women -- business professionals, homemakers, students and educators, ages 18 to 80 -- are members of the world's largest singing organization for women.
